Privacy Policy

YaarWithin is a space where you can talk through what is on your mind with an AI companion. It is a small, invite-only closed beta.
This explains what we collect and what we do with it.
Who we are
YaarWithin is built and run by Ankul Kithania, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
Contact: privacy@yaarwithin.com
What we collect
- The name or nickname you choose. It does not have to be your real name.
- Your email address. Required to finish signing up. It confirms the address is yours, and it is how you get back in if you lose your link or switch devices.
- Basic information about you: age group, gender, city, and what you are mostly doing these days, chosen from short lists during signup.
- Your conversations with YaarWithin.
- Feedback you share, including ratings and written comments.
- Usage and technical information: device type, browser, session activity, timestamps, and error logs.
- Payment information if you choose to contribute (see below).
- A record of what you agreed to, and when.
Please avoid sharing passwords, financial credentials, government ID numbers, exact addresses, or confidential information about someone else. YaarWithin does not need any of it.
What the AI is given, and what it is not
When you start a new conversation, the AI is not given your earlier ones. It does not carry memory from one chat to the next.
Your conversations are still saved, so you can read them back from your history. Saved and given to the AI are different things.
If this ever changes, we will tell you before it does.
How your activity is linked
To learn whether YaarWithin is useful, we need to know whether the same person came back, gave feedback, or chose to contribute. So your sessions, feedback and contributions are linked on our side under an internal reference.
Put plainly:
- Our records recognise that you returned.
- The AI is not given what you said before.
That internal reference is not included in the conversation text sent to the AI, and it is never shared for advertising or marketing.
How we use your information
To run YaarWithin and generate responses; to save and show your history; to confirm your email and get you back in on a new device; to understand whether the beta is useful, including whether people return and whether they find it worth contributing to; to improve quality and safety; to fix problems and prevent misuse of invites or accounts; to keep a record of your consent; and to contact you about feedback or research, only if you separately agreed to that.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your conversations for advertising.
We also use some conversations to improve YaarWithin's prompts, evaluations and safety checks. This involves authorised people reading them.
We may use conversations to develop and train AI models for future versions of YaarWithin. We do not have our own model today, and no training is happening now. Before we use conversations for that, we will tell you and give you a way to opt out.
You should know one limit of this. Once information has been used to train a model, it cannot be pulled back out of that model. We can exclude your conversations from future training, and delete them from our records, but we cannot undo training that has already happened.
Who processes your information, and where
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | Runs the AI models (Claude) that generate responses | United States |
| Supabase | Stores your account, conversations and feedback | Mumbai, India |
| Render | Hosts the application | Singapore |
| Resend | Sends verification and recovery emails | United States |
| Cloudflare | Part of Render's platform; routes and protects traffic before it reaches the app | Global network |
Your message, plus context from the current conversation, is sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. Your earlier conversations are not sent. Your email address goes to Resend only so it can deliver a message to you.
Our main account and conversation database is hosted in Mumbai, India. Your messages and limited related information are also processed, and may be briefly retained, outside India by the providers above. Anthropic states that inputs and outputs sent through its API are generally deleted from its systems within 30 days.
If you are not comfortable with that, please do not use YaarWithin.
Beyond these providers, we may disclose information where the law requires it, or where reasonably necessary to protect the safety, rights or security of YaarWithin, the people using it, or someone else. If YaarWithin is ever transferred to a company or another operator, we will tell you before your information moves.
Who reads conversations
Because this is a closed beta, conversations and feedback may be read afterwards to understand whether the experience is helpful, improve response quality, look into safety concerns, fix technical problems, and answer support requests.
At present, conversations are reviewed only by the operator. If other people are given access to help run or evaluate YaarWithin, it will be limited to those who need it, and this policy will be updated.
We do not routinely monitor conversations live. We cannot promise that anything you write will be seen or responded to. If you need a person to respond, please reach someone you trust or a support service.
How long we keep information
We delete your account, conversations and feedback, or de-identify them so they are no longer reasonably linked to you, no later than 24 months after they were collected. Often sooner, once the closed beta has been evaluated.
You can ask us to delete yours at any point before that.
Two exceptions. Information may remain in encrypted backups for a short period after deletion, until those backups expire on their normal cycle. And we may need to keep certain technical or security records for longer where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and how it is used;
- correct anything wrong or out of date;
- delete your personal data;
- stop, by withdrawing consent you gave earlier (this does not undo processing that already happened, and it may mean you can no longer use YaarWithin); or
- look into a complaint about how your information was handled.
Email privacy@yaarwithin.com. We may need to check it is really you asking. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, ordinarily within 30 days. If something needs longer, we will tell you. There is no charge.
Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls and restricted database access. Access tokens and invite links are stored only as hashes, never in readable form. We limit access to personal information to the people and systems that need it. If personal data is ever exposed, we will investigate, and notify affected people and the authorities where required.
Two things worth being straight about:
YaarWithin conversations are not end-to-end encrypted. Our systems and the AI provider need to process your messages in order to reply to them.
Your recovery email is stored in readable form, because it is needed for verification and to get you back into your account. Access to it is restricted.
No online service can promise complete security.
Voluntary contributions
If you contribute, payment goes through UPI, directly between your payment app and ours.
We never receive your UPI PIN, bank password, or any payment credential. We do receive what your bank or UPI service shows us: the amount, the time, a transaction reference, and limited payer details. We use this to understand whether people find YaarWithin worth paying for.
Contributing is optional and nothing is held back if you do not.
Age
YaarWithin is for people 18 or older. We do not verify age beyond asking. If we learn someone under 18 is using it, we will close their access and delete their information.
Important
YaarWithin is an AI companion. It is not a therapist, doctor, healthcare provider, crisis line, or emergency service. It does not diagnose or treat anything. Its responses can be wrong, incomplete, or unhelpful.
If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services, or a person you trust who can help in the real world.
Changes
We may update this policy as YaarWithin develops. If we change something meaningful, such as what we collect, who processes it, or what the AI is given, we will tell you before it takes effect and update the date above.
